Oasis Wellness Center Calls for CSUN Artists to Submit Artwork

  • The University Student Union is offering all CSUN students, faculty and staff an opportunity to potentially exhibit their artwork at the new Oasis Wellness Center. Scheduled to open in Fall 2015, the Oasis will be a welcoming destination where students can find serenity and relaxation amid the rush and activity of campus life.

Looking for a unique opportunity to exhibit your artistic talent? The University Student Union is asking all California State University, Northridge creative students, faculty and staff to submit their artwork by May 1 to potentially showcase their art at the new Oasis Wellness Center.

Any member of the CSUN community is welcome to submit a broad range of art – including painting, sculpting and photography – that portrays a sense of relaxation. The desired themes for the exhibited artwork include natural materials, biomorphic forms, presence of water, visual connections with natural systems and inspiring scenes in nature to illustrate the Oasis mission to help students relax, revive and succeed.

The artwork will be displayed in various areas of the Oasis Wellness Center scheduled to open in fall 2015. The Oasis is expected to be an inviting destination, where students can relax and find peace in a stress-free atmosphere. The center will offer meditation, nutrition counseling, therapeutic treatments such as acupuncture and massages, and workshops focused on wellness and managing stress to foster academic success.

Artists will be notified of their acceptance on or before May 15. Artist compensation will be negotiable after review of submission. Each artist whose work is chosen for display will also be invited to the Oasis VIP grand opening event.

To apply, complete and submit the entry form online at csun.edu/oasis/call-for-artists. Include a photo of the piece, a photo of the piece in progress or a sketch of the proposed piece.
