The Matadome will be a basketball haven on Dec. 6, as the California State University, Northridge women’s and men’s basketball teams play a rare doubleheader.

The CSUN women’s team, at 6-1 and fresh off winning the Radisson Hotel Chatsworth Thanksgiving Basketball Tournament, is off to one of its best starts since moving to Division I. The squad is led by reigning Big West Player of the Year Ashlee Guay (averaging 14.3 points per game), center Camille Mahlknecht (averaging 10 points and 3.2 blocks) and sharpshooting guard Janae Parker (averaging 14.5 points). They play in the opener against Pepperdine at 4 p.m.

The men’s team comes on in the nightcap, with seniors Stephan Hicks (averaging 17.2 points) and Stephen Maxwell (averaging 15.5 points and 7.0 rebounds) leading the way for the 2-6 Matadors, who tip off against Vanguard at 7 p.m.
