Each month, California State University, Northridge faculty and staff receive funding from outside organizations to support unique programs and cutting-edge research facilitated on campus. Below are a list of the individuals who received awards in August 2018.

Danielle Bram (Center for Geospatial Science and Technology) and Regan Maas (Department of Geography and Environmental Studies) received $34,996 from the the City of Glendale in support of a project entitled “City of Glendale Stormwater Dataset Updates.”

Kathryn Peckham-Hardin (Department of Special Education) received $249,970 from the US Department of Education in continuing support of a project entitled “Project I-PREP: Inclusive Preparation for Resourceful and Effective Professionals.”

Danielle Bram (Center for Geospatial Science and Technology) and Regan Maas (Department of Geography and Environmental Studies) received $100,000 from the California State Lands Commission in support of a project entitled “Records Digitization – Marine Oil Terminal Engineering and Maintenance Standards (MOTEMS).”

Paula Fischhaber (Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry) received $340,360 from the National Institutes of Health in support of a project entitled “SLX4 in Nuclease Recruitment.”

Suzanna Spear (Department of Health Sciences) received $145,000 from the National Institutes of Health in support of a project entitled “A systems science approach for improving continuity of service in substance use disorder treatment.”

Yann Schrodi (Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry) received $108,750 from the National Institutes of Health in support of a project entitled “New Robust Olefin Metathesis Catalysts Based on Non-Toxic and Abundant Low-Valent Molybdenum.”

Shari Tarver-Behring and Kim Goldberg-Roth (Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling) received $483,330 from the California Office of Emergency Services in support of a project entitled “Child Abuse Treatment (XT) Program.”

Shari Tarver-Behring and Kim Goldberg-Roth (Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling) received $317,432 from the California Office of Emergency Services in support of a project entitled “CalOES Child Advocacy Centers (KC).”

Tracy Buenavista (Department of Asian American Studies), Dario Fernandez and Blanca Villagomez Cedeno (Department of Educational Opportunity Program) received $15,000 from the the Regents of the University of California (UC) in support of a project entitled “The CSU UndocuServices Project (CUSP).”

Ivor Weiner (Department of Special Education) received $621,561 from the North Los Angeles County Regional Center – NLACRC in support of a project entitled “Family Focus Resource Center.”

Gang Lu (Department of Physics and Astronomy) received $3,810,000 from the National Science Foundation in support of a project entitled “PREM: Partnership between CSUN and Princeton for Quantum Materials”

Sue Sears (Department of Special Education) received $2,500 from the Napa County Office of Education in supplemental support of a project entitled “California Adolescent Literacy Initiative (CALI).”

Rachel Friedman-Narr (Department of Special Education) received $65,000 from the California Department of Education in support of a project entitled “Parentlinks.”

Kathleen Marsaglia (Department of Geological Sciences) received $47,448 from The Trustees of Columbia University in the City of New York in support of a project entitled “Composing a Modern Handbook for Shipboard Sedimentologists, the Linchpin of a Sedimentologist’s Shipboard Toolbox.”
