VPAC Offers Free Tickets to Faculty and Staff
The Valley Performing Arts Center will provide free tickets to faculty, staff and students to attend a performance of The Touré-Raichel Collective, featuring Vieux Farke Touré, Idan Raichel, Souleymane Kane and Uri Kleinman on Friday, Nov. 7, as part of a campus initiative and outreach to the CSUN community.
The Touré-Raichel Collective is comprised of Malian guitar virtuoso Vieux Farka Touré and Israeli superstar Idan Raichel. As collaborative artists and great friends, the duo have captivated audiences worldwide with their invention of sublime and transcendent music that crosses boundaries of countries, culture and tradition.
By showcasing the Touré-Raichel Collective in the Great Hall as part of the university’s ongoing campus outreach, VPAC’s executive director Thor Steingraber pointed out that “one of the great values of a performing arts center is to introduce artists and musicians from other parts of the world who are beloved and embraced by thousands of people around the globe.”
The complimentary tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis while supply lasts to faculty, staff and students, through the day of the performance. Employees and students should bring their CSUN ID to the Valley Performing Arts Center’s North Ticket Office (across from Burger King) to receive two free tickets.
Steingraber said he hopes the campus community will take advantage of this opportunity and “become part of the VPAC community by attending this performance, viewing our diverse, exciting schedule.” The concert is also a chance for attendees to get a feel for the facility and make future plans to join friends and colleagues for performances that match their artistic interests, he said.
