For Your Information shares announcements of events, public meetings, notices, classes and deadlines relevant to CSUN faculty and staff. The submission deadline is noon on Monday, one week before the next post.

The deadline for the Dec. 7 posting is Monday, Nov. 30.

Freshman Celebration 2015
CSUN students, faculty and staff are invited to attend the annual Freshman Celebration from 9:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. in the USU, Northridge Center, which features work done by freshman taking the University 100 class.

Lunch Time Express

CSUN faculty and staff wanting to exercise during their lunch break can come to the Student Recreational Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday. Available classes are indicated by a red symbol next to the class name on the SRC group exercise schedule.

American Indian Studies Program 32nd Annual Powwow
Everyone is welcome to the 32nd annual Powwow featuring American Indian dance and music, children’s craft activities, arts and crafts vendors, and frybread. The event, which is from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Plummer Lawn, is free but parking is $6.

Tim Wise, Anti-Racist Educator and Activist
Tim Wise is among the most prominent anti-racist writers and educators in the United States. Wise’s free lecture will be from 11 to 12:15 p.m. in the USU, Northridge Center.

CARE Kickoff Event
The kickoff event for the Center for Assessment, Research and Evaluation (CARE) will take place in the Ferman Presentation Room, Oviatt Library from noon to 2 p.m. CARE was established to connect faculty and students who are trained in assessment, research and evaluation with researchers, principal investigators and community agencies in need of assistance in these three areas. The CARE team will give a brief presentation and will be open to any questions from the audience.

Bianchi Planetarium- Autumn/ Winter Sky Show and Hubble Vision
Come and learn about stars, constellations, and planets visible in the sky during this year at 7:30 p.m. at the Bianchi Planetarium. At 8:30, there will be a narrated slide program that shows glimpses of solar system objects, such as the Moon, clouds on Mars, a comet’s crash into Jupiter and much more.

Managing Critical Incidents on Campus: Leadership Issues for “Routine” Emergencies & Actual Crisis Events
This session, facilitated by chief of police Anne Glavin, will allow supervisors and MPPs to better understand the structure and organization of the university framework in response to routine and critical incident emergencies on campus. Learn about providing advice to help staff remain calm and understand the emergency response process, information flow and actions to take (or not) in a given situation. This class will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the Department of Police Services, 2nd Floor Training Room.

Faculty and staff who want to explore their retirement planning products, can schedule a 30-minute individualized appointment to discuss retirement savings plans with a TIAA-CREF representative from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in University Hall 165.

CSUN Rise: Maximizing the Identity System and Positioning Platform
Jeff Noblitt, Associate Vice President, Marketing & Communications and Kevin Lizarraga, Director of Marketing, will speak about the launch of CSUN RISE and how departments throughout campus have effectively incorporated the message to positively impact the visibility and reputation of CSUN. Smoking Cessation Informational – Now is the Time
This class is open to faculty, staff and students who are trying to kick their smoking habits. CSUN is now a smoke-free campus, so this session will help people who are trying to quit. The class will be from noon to 1 p.m. in Oviatt Library 16.
