Poetic Readings of Creation
CSUN’s Jewish studies program presents a guest lecture presented by B.A. Newmark. She will be reading her poetry and analyzing the differences between Jewish and Roman creation stories in Genesis and Metamorphoses. The lecture will be held Jerome Richfield 315 from 12:30-1:45 p.m.

Bianchi Planetarium
Come and learn about stars and constellations and planets visible in the sky during Autumn at the Autumn Sky Show, which takes place at 7:30 p.m. It is followed by MarsQuest. General admission tickets are $6 for one show, $10 for two shows; students are $4 for one show and $7 for two shows.

Juarez, a Mexican Docudrama
CSUN professors José Luis Benavides and Kent Kirkton of the Institute for Arts & Media collected oral histories to create the Mexican docudrama adapted and directed by Peter Grego. This devised piece explodes with the words and testimony of actual hero/survivors of the conditions in present-day Mexico. The screening will be held in Nordhoff Hall’s Little Theatre at 7:30 p.m.

Sixth Annual Research Fellows Colloquium
Provost Harry Hellenbrand cordially invites you to the Sixth Annual Research Fellows Colloquium. Come hear distinguished faculty Susan Auerbach, Maia Beruchashvili, Vibhav Durgesh, Martha Escobar, Ellen Jarosz discuss their research on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Delmar T. Oviatt Library’s Jack and Florence Ferman Presentation Room. The event will be moderated by Associate Dean Marianne Afifi.

Catastrophic Leave Notices
The CSU Catastrophic Leave Donation Program allows employees to voluntarily donate sick and/or vacation leave credits to employees that are totally incapacitated due to a catastrophic illness or injury, and have exhausted all leave credits. Family illnesses that are deemed catastrophic, requiring an employee to be absent to care for an immediate family member, are also eligible for the CSU Catastrophic Leave Donation Program.

Deadlines
2015 Faculty Retreat
The 2015 Faculty Retreat, “CSUN: Celebrating Diversity” will be held on Jan. 12 and 13, 2015. The first day is on the CSUN campus with the usual schedule. The second day will be an off-campus trip that is currently being planned. The Senate Office is now accepting proposals for presentations – deadline is Monday, Oct. 20. Information and the link to submit a proposal to offer a presentation at the Retreat is available at http://www.csun.edu/faculty-senate/faculty-retreat. Service on Faculty and University Committees and Boards
Faculty who would like to be considered for election or appointment to positions in faculty governance, to standing or advisory committees of the Faculty Senate, or to various all-university committees and boards are invited to complete the University Service Form on the Faculty Senate website. To be considered for the spring faculty elections, please submit the form to the Faculty Senate Office by Jan. 20, 2015.
