For Your Information shares announcements of events, public meetings, notices, classes and deadlines relevant to CSUN faculty and staff. The submission deadline is noon on Monday, one week before the next post.

The deadline for the May 4 posting is Monday, Apr. 27 .

Mandatory Work-Study Annual Meeting
All new departments, programs, and research directors that want to hire or may want to hire Federal Work-Study students in 2015-2016 must send their department contact and back-up to the annual meeting at 9 to 11:30 a.m. on the garden level of the Oviatt Library 16. Continuing departments with fewer than two FWS student employee hires per year are also required to attend. Pre-registration is required and space is limited. Reserve your seat today by sending an email. In the email subject line please put your DEPT ID # – FWS Annual Mtg. RSVP.  In the body of the email please provide your department name, your name and phone extension.

The Lost and the Living: One Family’s Journeys from the Old World to the New, and Back Again
 Los Angeles native Lisa Lainer-Fagan presents her extraordinary research and the family trip to Lithuania designed to discover the fate of her great-uncles and aunts who disappeared during the Holocaust.  This slide-lecture will feature photographs of the many clues they followed in learning the truth – actual letters, survivor testimony, historical photos, government documents, maps – and the actual sites in Lithuania that they visited. She also illustrates the pre- and post-Holocaust migrations of relatives that made possible her worldwide network of family members today.  The presentation will be held in Jerome Richfield 315 from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m.

Reputation and Visibility Campaign Launch
Join President Dianne F. Harrison at the launch of a new positioning platform and updated graphic system, including a new university logo, to elevate CSUN’s identity with the internal and external community. The newly defined messaging and identity standards support CSUN’s growing impact and national reputation. The presentation will be at 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. in the Plaza Del Sol Theatre.

Bianchi Planetarium
Come and learn about stars, constellations and planets visible in the sky during Spring at the Spring Sky Show, which takes place at 7:30 p.m. It is followed by Hubble Vision show at 8:30 p.m. General admission tickets are $6 for one show and $10 for two shows; students are $4 for one show and $7 for two shows.

 2015 TRENDS Apparel Design and Merchandising Student Fashion
See the incredible fashions our students have designed and created in a dynamic show produced by students at the 2015 TRENDS Apparel Design and Merchandising Student Fashion show, “A Universal Dream Through the Eyes of the Designer.” The show is at the Plaza del Sol Performance Hall at 5 p.m. Tickets are available at the University Student Union Ticket office.  General admission $20/ $15 for students with CSUN ID.

CSUN Night at Dodger Stadium
Before the Dodgers host the Giants, there will be a special pregame ceremony to honor a group of CSUN Physical Therapy students receiving scholarships provided by the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation and the Roy and Roxie Campanella Foundation.  The first 40,000 fans in attendance receive a Dodger Drysdale Cy Young Collectors’ Pin.

Emily Bowen Cohen is a member of the Muskogee (Creek) Nation as well as the Jewish people. As an illustrator and painter, she is writing a graphic novel about her experiences. She will be sharing her story and artwork in Sierra Hall 182 from 11 a.m to 12:15 p.m.

The Contribution of the Health Care System to Racial/Ethnic Disparities in Access to Care
Nadereh Pourat, Ph.D., CSUN Alumna and Director of Research, UCLA Center for Health Policy Research will present her research on “The Contribution of the Health Care System to Racial/Ethnic Disparities in Access to Care” in the Nobbs Auditorium from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Her research focuses on assessing racial/ethnic and other disparities in access to care of under-served populations. She is also a member of the UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, Division of Cancer Prevention and Control Research.

The annual Honored Faculty Reception will take place on May 18 at 1:30 p.m. in the Grand Salon, University Student Union.  Faculty awards will be presented for Outstanding Faculty; Distinguished Teaching, Counseling, or Librarianship; Scholarly Publication; Creative Accomplishment; Extraordinary Service; and Visionary Community Service-Learning. Emeritus professors and faculty completing milestone years of service will be honored.  Refreshments will be served. You must RSVP by May 13.

The Basics of Pepper Spray Defense, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
The Basics of Pepper Spray workshop, from at CSUN PD, covers a variety of topics, including citizens’ possession and use of chemical properties and effects of pepper spray. Registration is free but a personal canister of pepper spray with keychain case can be purchased for $6.
