For Your Information shares announcements of events, public meetings, notices, classes and deadlines relevant to CSUN faculty and staff. The submission deadline is noon on Monday, one week before the next post.

The deadline for the Oct. 12 posting is Monday, Oct. 5.

Lunch Time Express

CSUN faculty and staff wanting to exercise during their lunch break can come to the Student Recreational Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday. Available classes are indicated by a red symbol next to the class name on the SRC group exercise schedule.

Walkability Wednesdays

Every Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. CSUN faculty, staff and students can take a walking tour of various campus paths. A map and brochure with different walking paths for various fitness levels will be provided. The tour will begin at Santa Susana Hall 115.

EOP Memorial Plaque Unveiling

The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) will be hosting the unveiling of a memorial plaque dedicated to the students, faculty and staff who fought for social justice on campus. The event will take at the Ralph Prator Sundial Foundation, near Bayramian Hall, at 11 a.m.

Vocal ARTillery

Local community poets and performing artists will share their art with CSUN faculty, staff and students. The event, which is organized by CSUN students, will be from 8 to 10 p.m. in Santa Susana Hall.

Celebration of Shane Frehlich’s Life

The CSUN campus will hold a Memorial Service at 4 p.m. in the Valley Performing Arts Center for Kinesiology professor Shane Frehlich, who passed away after a struggle with leukemia.

Making CSUN’s eTravel Solution Your Roadmap to Seamless Travel Reimbursements

Smoking Cessation Informational – Now is the Time

This class is open to faculty, staff and students who are trying to kick their smoking habits. CSUN is now a smoke-free campus, so this session will help people who are trying to quit. The class will be from noon to 1 p.m. in Oviatt Library 16.

CERT Training

This seven-week course meets once a week from 9 to 11:30 a.m. in the Jack and Florence Ferman Presentation Room, Oviatt Library. At the end of the course, participants will be certified with basic competency in emergency medical triage and operations, damage assessment, fire suppression, light search and rescue, disaster psychology, volunteer team management and more.

If you are already enrolled in a Tax Sheltered Annuity (TSA) 403(b) with TIAA-CREF or want to explore their retirement-planning products, this is an opportunity to schedule a 30-minute individualized appointment to discuss retirement savings planning with a TIAA-CREF representative. The session is from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at University Hall 165.

Find Optimal Childcare and Schools for your Child

This session will have experts speaking about how to select a high-quality early childhood setting, benefits from alternative schooling situations (i.e., charter schools, homeschooling, gifted programs) and traditional public education settings. The class is from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Department of Police Services, 2nd Floor Training Room.

2016 Faculty Retreat

The 2016 Faculty Retreat, “Rediscovering CSUN” will be held on Jan. 19 and 20, 2016 on the CSUN campus. The deadline for presentation proposals is Mon., Oct. 19.
