CSUN Senior Soccer Weekend
This weekend, the CSUN men’s and women’s soccer teams will host their respective Senior Days, when all players in their final seasons with the Matadors will be honored during pregame ceremonies.
On Saturday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. Sagi Lev-Ari, Edwin Rivas, Tanner Snedigar, Mynor Giron and Yarden Azulay will be honored in a pre-match ceremony. This group of seniors was instrumental in helping the Matadors gain their highest ranking ever, No. 3 in 2013, and then reaching the second round of last year’s NCAA Tournament. Lev-Ari was a semifinalist for the Mac Hermann Trophy, the highest honor in college soccer, and with 10 goals in 16 games he leads the Big West in scoring. He is fourth all time in Matador history with 41 goals and 88 points.
On Sunday, Nov. 2, CSUN hosts Hawai’i at 2 p.m. in both teams’ Big West Conference regular-season finale. The Matadors must defeat the Rainbow Wahine to guarantee a spot in the Big West Tournament next week on the campus of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
Before the start of the Sunday matinee, the five seniors participating in their final match at Matador Soccer Field will receive special acknowledgment: Melissa Lopez, Brittanie Sakajian, Leandra Walker, Rachel Webb and Hannah Wissler. The quintet has been part of a historical era of Matador women’s soccer, helping lead the squad to its first Big West Championship and NCAA Tournament berth in 2012.
