KCSN/Los Angeles Names David Kleinbart Its Director of Underwriting
David Kleinbart has been appointed director of underwriting for California State University, Northridge’s fast-growing Triple A format public radio station 88.5-FM KCSN/Los Angeles.
Kleinbart transitions to KCSN from his role as senior director of underwriting at KCRW/Los Angeles. Kleinbart, who graduated from Cal State Northridge in 1969 with a bachelor’s degree in radio and television production, played an integral role in KCRW’s underwriting efforts for the last 12 years.
“David brings a wealth of experience and insight into the Los Angeles public radio marketplace,” said KCSN General Manager Sky Daniels. “He shares KCSN’s commitment to being a leading local and national brand in entertainment and culture. We are fortunate that he has chosen to lead KCSN in developing our underwriting strategies and efforts.”
Kleinbart said he was looking forward to working with his new colleagues.
“You can sum up KCSN with one word—passion!” he said. “It’s evident both on the air and off. I look forward to working with everyone as the smart rock format continues to grow. Listener response and industry talk on the street confirm that KCSN has already moved beyond L.A.’s best-kept secret into a must-listen music source.”
Kleinbart joins KCSN as the station undergoes new growth initiatives: an improved Los Angeles basin booster signal, a new translator in the Camarillo area and the addition of acclaimed music industry veteran Nic Harcourt as host of its morning show.
“2013 is going to be a year of accelerated growth for KCSN,” Daniels said. “We have several growth strategies planned, from personnel to signal growth. It’s an exciting time for KCSN and our growing legion of supporters.”
As a service of California State University, Northridge, KCSN offers a 24-hour, commercial-free blend of rock, alternative, soul, blues and Americana, featuring a wide range of artists such as Adele, Bruce Springsteen, Mumford & Sons, Arcade Fire, Jackson Browne and Bon Iver. The station’s programming is also available on the station’s HD1 channel and online at KCSN.org.
