California State University, Northridge celebrated the best of CSUN Athletics at the inaugural RISE Awards on May 3. Senior men’s basketball player Robert Cid and senior men’s volleyball player Travis Magorien hosted the red carpet arrivals, and Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) Co-Presidents Brianna Elder and Kate Kammer gave speeches to kick off and conclude the evening.

The awards ceremony honored student-athletes in 11 categories, selected by their fellow student-athletes, as well as the year’s academic honorees. A full list of winners is below:

2015 William Watkins Community Service Award: Women’s Cross Country & Track and Field

2015 Male Rookie of the Year: Yusuke Akitoshi, Baseball

2015 Female Rookie of the Year: Zoe Conley, Softball

2015 Team Spirit Award: Women’s Water Polo

2015 Iron Matty Award: Rachel Webb, Women’s Soccer

2015 Male Enterprise Comprehensive Excellence Award: Greg Faulkner, Men’s Volleyball

2015 Female Enterprise Comprehensive Excellence Award: Casey Hinger, Women’s Volleyball

2015 Coach of the Year: Jason Flowers, Women’s Basketball

2015 Matador Support Award: Izzy Gold

2015 Champion’s Award: Ashlee Guay, Women’s Basketball

2015 Team of the Year: Women’s Softball
