Parking Lot Party

The home opener for CSUN men’s basketball team had an added twist to go with the excitement and anticipation for the upcoming season: Instead of heading inside to watch the game and root on the Matadors, nearly 300 people stayed in the parking lot during the game for the first-ever Parking Lot Party.

The overflow crowd is new for targeted games during the 2014-15 season. These fans were able to watch the game on a big screen provided by Associated Students and partake in other festivities before and during the game.

“We are so excited with the success of the Parking Lot Party,” said Dawn Ellerbe, associate athletics director for marketing, branding and fan development. “It was a great start in what we hope will become a regular part of the game-day environment at CSUN. There were close to 300 students and fans in attendance, and the event was a great collaboration between The University Corporation, Residence Life, Associated Students and Matador Athletics.”
