The amazing year for CSUN’s student paper — the Daily Sundial — continues. After picking up awards at the California College Media Association and the Society of Professional Journalists banquets this spring, the Sundial received two first-place medals from the Los Angeles Press Club.

One of the awards went to the Sundial’s website, and the other went to student photographer Andrew Lopez, for his images of last year’s campus protest.

“We go up against really excellent schools throughout the country and state,” said CSUN journalism professor Melissa Lalum, publisher of the Sundial. “So, to be honored confirms we’re doing good work and training our students well. I’m proud of our students’ online-first mentality in their approach to news.”
