Research and Sponsored Projects
Maria Acuña (Social Work) received $18,060 from the University of California, Los Angeles in support of a project entitled “LAUSD Optimism Project.”
Danielle Bram (Center for Geospatial Science and Technology) and Regan Maas (Geography & Environmental Studies) received $10,350 from California State University, San Bernardino in support of a project entitled “Disadvantaged Communities Center.”
Steven Dudgeon (Biology) received $191,565 from the National Science Foundation in support of a project entitled “Dr. Steven Dudgeon – NSF Program Director Assignment.”
Rafi Efrat (Bookstein Institute) received $10,000 from the United States Department of Treasury in support of a project entitled “The Bookstein Low Income Taxpayer Clinic.”
Maria Elizondo (Student Affairs VP) received $33,869 from California State University, Chico in support of a project entitled “CalFresh Outreach FFY 2022-2024.”
Rosalia Garcia-Torres (Family and Consumer Sciences) received $21,558 from the California State University Agricultural Research Institute in support of a project entitled “Developing Case Studies for Undergraduates: Valorization of Fruit and Vegetable by Products for New Product Development.”
Simon Garrett, Karin Crowhurst, Thomas Minehan, John Kaiser, and Joseph Teprovich (Chemistry and Biochemistry) received $167,085 from the National Science Foundation in support of a project entitled “Helium Recovery Equipment: Critical Helium Recycling System for CSUN to Preserve NMR Access for Research and Teaching.”
Kim Goldberg-Roth and Deborah Buttitta (Strength United) received $196,906 from the California Office of Emergency Services in support of a project entitled “Unserved/Underserved Victim Advocacy and Outreach Program.”
Cedric Hackett (Dubois-Hamer Institute) received $15,000 from the Los Angeles Unified School District in support of a project entitled “LAUSD-BSAP-2023 – CSUN African American Alliance with Alfred Nobel Middle School,” $10,000 from the Los Angeles Unified School District in support of a project entitled “LAUSD-BSAP-2023: Black Student Alliance Program for Chatsworth High School,” and $5,000 from the Los Angeles Unified School District in support of a project entitled “LAUSD-Black Student Alliance Program for 2023 – Black House.”
Nhut Ho (Autonomy Research Center for STEAHM) received $36,000 from the Xtensor Systems Inc. in support of a project entitled “Partnership Between CSUN ARCS and Xtensor Systems Inc.”
Ray Hong (Biology) received $67,162 from the University of California, Los Angeles in support of a project entitled “Cell Lineage-Based Investigation of Chemosensory Neuron Development.”
Jonathan Kelber, Maria De Bellard, (Biology) and Daniel Tamae (Chemistry & Biochemistry) received $5,000 from the National Institutes of Health in support of a project entitled “California State University – Interdisciplinary Cancer Meeting (CSU-ICM).”
Beth Lasky (Tseng College) received $104,957 from California State University, Long Beach in support of a project entitled “Inclusive Post-secondary Education Pilot Programs.”
Kah Chun Lau (Physics and Astronomy) received $50,000 from the Savannah River National Laboratory in support of a project entitled “Molecular Insights for Fine-Tuned Hydrogen Interaction Control.”
Debbie Ma (Psychology) received $128,579 from the National Science Foundation in support of a project entitled “SBP: Collaborative Research: RUI: Expansion and Infrastructure Development of the Chicago Face Database.”
Rachel Mackelprang (Department of Biology) received $8,750 from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in support of a project entitled “Preparing for Research in Space Microbiology (PRISM).”
Deqing Ren and Damian Christian (Physics and Astronomy) received $31,034 from the National Science Foundation in support of a project entitled “Development of a Polarimeter for Solar Synoptic High-Sensitivity Observations.”
Mark Steele (Biology) received $391,577 from the University of California, Santa Barbara in support of a project entitled “SONGS Mitigation Monitoring Program, 2022-2023.”
Claudia Toledo-Corral (Health Sciences) received $17,525 from the University of Southern California in support of a project entitled “ECHO (LA-DREAMERS).”
Virginia Oberholzer Vandergon (Biology), Brian Foley, Norman Herr (Secondary Education), Matthew d’Alessio (Geological Sciences), and Li Ye (Chemistry & Biochemistry) received $18,000 from the Regents of the University of California in support of a project entitled “San Fernando Valley Science Project (State).”
Ivor Weiner (Special Education) received $110,087 from the North Los Angeles County Regional Center in support of a project entitled “Van Nuys Family Resource Center and Library.”
Natale Zappia (Institute for Sustainability) and Crist Khachikian (Civil Engineering and Construction Management) received $150,694 from the University of California, Los Angeles in support of a project entitled “Community Emission Reduction Grant Assistance and Training Program.”
