Whole Foods Selects Strength United to Receive Donation
Strength United, a California State University, Northridge community agency dedicated to helping victims of child maltreatment, domestic violence and sexual assault, will be the beneficiary of two 5% Community Days sponsored by grocery chain Whole Foods Market. Strength United will receive 5 % of pre-tax sales on these two 5% Community Days —June 1 at the Woodland Hills store and June 7 in the Tarzana store.
Each Whole Foods’s store will showcase healthy and enjoyable cooking with a 6 PM FREE cooking demonstration and tasting at each location. On June 1, the Tarzana store will host “Portion Your Plate” on preparing perfectly portioned and delicious meals and on June 7, the Woodland Hills store will host “Healthy Vegetarian Greek Cuisine”. Demonstrations and tastings are FREE, please email Maria.Dimakos@wholefoods.com to RSVP. (This is requested to ensure enough food for tasting.)
Gail Hynick, Engagement and Outreach Officer for Strength United, expressed her excitement about the events.
“Our partnership with Whole Foods Market and the 5% Community Days are very meaningful events for Strength United,” Hynick said. “We are excited to talk to shoppers in the communities we serve, share vital information about our services and receive generous support from one of the nation’s top grocery stores. We strongly believe in the mission of Whole Foods Market — where ‘healthy’ means a whole lot more and goes beyond ‘good for you,’ to also encompass the ‘greater good.’
