Charges Filed Against Second Suspect in CSUN Apartment Burglary
Criminal charges were filed against 21-year-old California State University, Northridge student Travon Williams Jr. in connection with a burglary at a campus apartment in early October, CSUN police officials have announced.
Williams is the second student arrested in connection with an incident on Oct. 4 during which four men forced their way into an apartment in CSUN’s University Park apartment complex. Spencer Shipp, 20, was arrested by CSUN police on Oct. 10.
Campus police detectives on Nov. 7 presented the case against Williams to the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office, which filed one count of criminal threats and one count of trespassing.
Williams was identified as being one of four males, including Shipp, involved in a burglary that happened shortly after midnight on Friday, Oct. 4. At that time, four men forced their way into an apartment in Building 11 of CSUN’s University Park apartment complex saying they were looking for someone they had a previous altercation with. The men made threats when a resident asked them to leave. The men searched the apartment and then left.
Police officials say that Williams is not the suspect depicted in a campus crime alert they issued on Oct. 4 about the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
