CSUN’s Dynamic Summer Camp and Programs Open for Registration
Parents looking for a dynamic summer experience can now enroll their children in programs at California State University, Northridge that offer a variety of activities, including academic enrichment, sports, games and arts and crafts.
Registration is open for the University Student Union’s Sunny Days Camp, which is offered to students in grades K-7 from June 6 through Aug. 12. Sunny Days Camp provides nine weekly sessions, either half- or full-day programs, where campers can participate in sports, games, arts and crafts, rock climbing, swimming and field trips.
Each one-week session is between $210 and $235 per camper, depending on whether field trips are included. A $25 early-bird discount is available until March 11. CSUN faculty, staff and students receive a $10-per-week discount on full week sessions.
“Our doors are open, and we are looking forward to another great summer for kids with lots of fun and opportunities to learn and grow,” said Sunny Days Director Jeremy Hamlett.
The camp also offers a Junior Counselor Program for high school students, 15 to 18 years old. All full-day fees are due by Friday, May 13. A deposit of $50 is required at the time of registration to hold your child’s spot in the program. For more information, visit the Sunny Days Camp website or call (818) 677-3617.
Registration also has opened for CSUN’s award-winning Teenage Drama Workshop (TADW), which provides students entering grades 7 to 12 a six-week, intensive summer workshop in theater. Students receive training in the areas of acting, dance and voice or in technical theater arts such as costumes, stagecraft, lighting and sound.
The workshop will run from June 13 to July 24. TADW will present performances of Around the World in 80 Days, Shrek the Musical Jr. and 10 Minute Play Festival. Spaces are still available and are handled on a first-come, first-served basis. Tuition is $2,000, but there is an early-bird discount of $200 through March 31. For more information, visit the TADW website or call (818) 677-5811.
The university also offers academic enrichment programs through the Summer Academic Program for Elementary School Students (SAPESS) and Summer Academic Enrichment Program (SAEP) for middle and high school students, from June 20 to July 22. Both programs offer enrichment and academic classes. Financial aid is available.
For more information on SAPESS, call (818) 677-4886 or visit the SAPESS website; for SAEP, visit the SAEP website.
CSUN also offers a variety of sports camps — including soccer, tennis, basketball, volleyball, softball and baseball — during the summer. For more information, visit the athletics website.
