Media Advisory for Monday, Nov. 29, 2021: Councilman Lee, CSUN to Announce Creation of Angel Fund For DACA Students

What:            Los Angeles City Councilman John Lee will join with California State University, Northridge President Erika D. Beck and Wade Trimmer, president of the nonprofit The Change Reaction, to announce the creation of an “angel fund” to help undocumented CSUN students cover the costs of renewing their status under the federal government’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

The fund was created with a $150,000 grant from The Change Reaction. The Change Reaction was founded in 2019 by Greg and Jodi Perlman and a group of like-minded, Los Angeles-based donors seeking to strengthen the fabric of their communities through a whole new way of giving. Among the organization’s efforts is the creation of “angel funds” to help partner organizations remove barriers for their clients and to take advantage of opportunities to further the clients’ success. These grants are designed to support specific needs by making an immediate, direct impact on where it is needed most.

For the health and safety of others, masks are required to enter the event. Visitors are asked to complete a quick Health Screening Survey before coming to campus.
