CSUN and UNAM to Inaugurate iSTAR Lab
What: California State University, Northridge (CSUN) and Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) will inaugurate the International Spatial Technology and Research Lab, known as iSTAR, at CSUN on Wednesday, Sept. 18.
UNAM is one of the most recognized universities in Latin America, and one of the largest and most artistically detailed. Its main campus in Mexico City is a World Heritage site that was designed by some of Mexico’s best-known architects of the 20th century. Murals at the main campus were painted by acclaimed artists, including Diego Rivera and David Alfaro Siqueiros.
CSUN and UNAM initially partnered in 2014 with the creation of a Los Angeles-based center focused on scholarship on Mexico and Latin America. iSTAR is the latest collaboration and leverages both institutions’ strength in geospatial science and technology.
The event will include an open house, a signing ceremony between the two institutions and remarks from university administrators. In addition, there will be a presentation of the current lab projects and a demonstration of geospatial data.
