Valley Performing Arts Center to Hold Mayoral Candidate Forum
On May 21, 2013, the city of Los Angeles will hold a general election to choose its 42nd mayor to replace Antonio Villaraigosa, who is leaving due to term limits. While candidates have been shaking hands across the city, one of the first opportunities for them to discuss the issues facing the next mayor will at the BizFed–Daily News LA Mayoral Candidate Forum, which will be held at the CSUN Valley Performing Arts Center on Feb. 7.
While 14 people have thrown their hat into the ring for the general election, five of the main candidates will take part—Eric Garcetti (City Councilman for the 13th district and former City Council President), Wendy Greuel (City Controller and former City Councilwoman for the 2nd district), Kevin James (talk radio host and attorney), Emanuel Pleitez (chief strategy officer at Spokeo and former Villaraigosa aide) and Jan Perry (City Councilwoman for the 9th district).
The event will kick off at 9 a.m. with a breakfast reception and networking event with the
candidates. Then from 10 to11:30 a.m., Austin Beutner — the former special deputy to Mayor Villaraigosa — will moderate the forum on the VPAC stage. Afterward, there will be another short networking opportunity, from 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Those wanting to RSVP to the event can do so here. The event is free, but parking is $6.
