Commit to Be Fit
CSUN staff, faculty and students who want to improve their physical fitness are invited to Redwood Hall 180 from Sep. 14 – 5:30 p.m. to Sep. 17– 6:30 p.m. Commit to be Fit will help with weight loss and maintenance through exercise and nutrition. Building Marshall Program
The Department of Police Services invite all CSUN faculty and staff who are interested in becoming Building Marshals for campus departments. The training course will provide information about being better prepared incase of an on-campus emergencies. The course will be held from noon to 12:55 p.m. on the second floor Training Room at the Department of Police Services.

CSUN faculty and staff members can take part in yoga from 11 a.m. to noon every Tuesday at Nordhoff Hall 106. Wear stretchy comfortable clothes and bring a mat.

Latino Americans: Prejudice and Pride
A film screening with special guest Lecturer Jorge Leal will take place at the Oviatt Library Presentation Room from 2 to 4 p.m. This film is one in a series of events scheduled to highlight Latino Americans: 500 Years of History.

Utilizing lynda.csun.edu and Skillport Learning Libraries to Your Advantage
Come learn how to take advantage of these free tools from 10 to 10:55 a.m. at the Human Resources Training Room in the Oviatt Library 16. Participants will learn how to navigate through the different libraries on Lynda.com and Skillport and become familiar with the different topics each website offers.

Lunch Time Express
CSUN faculty and staff wanting to exercise during their lunch break can come to the Student Recreational Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday. Available classes are indicated by a red symbol next to the class name on the SRC group exercise schedule.

Walkability Wednesdays
Every Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m., CSUN faculty, staff and students can take a walking tour of various campus paths. A map and brochure with different walking paths for various fitness levels will be provided. The tour will begin at Santa Susana Hall 115.

Bianchi Planetarium
Come and learn about stars and constellations and planets visible in the sky during summer and autumn of this year at the Summer/Autumn Sky Show at the Bianchi Planetarium at 7:30 p.m. It is followed by An Introduction to Eclipse Science and Travel. General admission tickets are $6 for one show, $10 for two shows; students are $4 for one show and $7 for two shows.

The annual CSUN Founders’ Day celebration will be held at the USU East Conference Center from 10:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Former CSUN faculty, staff and alumni will be honored at the event. The registration cost is $35 per person and is free for 50-year club inductees.

2016 Faculty Retreat
The 2016 Faculty Retreat, “Rediscovering CSUN”, will be held on Jan. 19 and 20, 2016 on the CSUN campus. The deadline for presentation proposals is Mon., Oct. 19.

Condolences

The Department of Kinesiology and the campus community extends condolences to the family of Shane Frehlich, Faculty President and Kinesiology professor. He passed away on Sept. 4 due to complications arising from Acute Myeloid Leukemia. A 100 Citizens Frehlich Fundraiser Challenge will be held on Sept. 16 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. near Redwood Hall to raise money for scholarships for
Frehlich’s children. A memorial service will be held in his honor at 4 p.m. on Oct. 30 at the Valley Performance Arts Center.
