CSUN 3rd in Nation for Latino Communication and Journalism Degrees
CSUN ranks third in the nation for the total number of bachelor’s degrees awarded to Hispanics or Latinos majoring in communication or journalism, according to the Hispanic Outlook on Education Magazine, which focuses on Hispanic education in institutions of higher learning. This places the university ahead of schools such as the University of Southern California and University of Florida.
In its June 2019 issue, the magazine also recognized CSUN as 10th in the nation for the total number of master’s degrees awarded to Hispanics or Latinos. CSUN’s combination of passion for diversity and academic quality contribute to the university’s success.
The Spanish-language journalism minor in the Mike Curb College of Arts, Media, and Communication prepares students to report on Latina and Latino communities in the U.S. El Nuevo Sol — a multimedia website produced by the students in the program — enables students to contribute to better and more accurate news coverage of Latina and Latino communities.
