CSUN Eisner College Passes Credentialing Re-Accreditation with Flying Colors

This March, the CSUN Michael D. Eisner College of Education received the summary report from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) Accreditation, with a unanimous recommendation of re-accreditation without any further conditions. The report, which followed a site visit with the 27 credential programs in the CSUN Eisner College, will be reviewed for final approval by the CTC Commission on Accreditation on May 2.

Following the passage of state Senate bills in 1988 and 1993 to streamline and regulate the teacher credentialing process, the CTC created a professional accreditation to ensure that credential education programs meet state standards, in order to be allowed to recommend candidates for state licensure. Accreditation reviews take place every seven years.

The CTC report on CSUN states that “the recommendation of accreditation was based on a thorough review of all institutional and programmatic information and materials including interviews with administrators, faculty, candidates, graduates and local school personnel. The team obtained sufficient and consistent information that lead to a high degree of confidence in making overall and programmatic judgements about the professional education unit’s operation.”
