Broadway, film and television superstar Vanessa Williams lit up the stage at California State University, Northridge’s Valley Performing Arts Center on Friday, Jan. 16.

Williams, who performed hit songs such as Dreamin, The Sweetest Days, Work To Do, Colors of the Wind and her signature, Save the Best for Last, was greeted by a packed audience. The CSUN Black Alumni Association hosted a special pre-concert reception for its members and Williams in the VPAC Art Gallery.

“Since our chartering on Sept. 27, 2011, we have dedicated ourselves to connecting all those interested in promoting and supporting the needs of alumni, faculty, staff and students of African descent at CSUN,” said Shanté Morgan-Durisseau ’90  (Journalism/Afro-American Studies), president of the BAA. “This event is in alignment with our mission and creating linkages beyond the classroom.”
