As the air temperature dropped and the fall semester reached its grand finale, Matadors enjoyed a taste of the holidays — and it was sweet indeed.

On Dec. 4, the University Student Union (USU) hosted a Winter Pop-Up at the Grand Salon, lined with Christmas trees and holiday decor. There, CSUN students were treated to an abundance of sugary fare, including a dessert bar with cinnamon rolls, mini donuts, coconut macaroons, chocolate chip cookies, and a variety of cakes and pastries. Students warmed up with tasty, hot beverages, such as apple cider or hot chocolate with whipped cream and wafers.

There were also savory treats, including a popcorn stand and papas rellenas (fried stuffed potatoes).

The USU even added a tiny taste of real winter with a miniature skating rink in the center of the Grand Salon — too small for gliding, but perfect for Instagram — a corner for decorating Christmas tree ornaments, board games and a photo booth, where Matadors snapped cheery holiday-themed photos with friends.

Happy Holidays, Matadors!
