Good Food, Great Company – President’s Picnic Returns
Students and volunteer servers braved the triple-digit heat on Sept. 6 to take part in a beloved CSUN tradition to kick off the new school year — the annual President’s Picnic. People gathered in the shade around Bayramian Hall Lawn to eat tacos, listen to some tunes and greet President Erika D. Beck, who posed for photos with students.
The DJ spun classic tracks such as “Dancing Queen,” “Staying Alive,” and “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough,” while incorporating modern hits such as Bad Bunny’s “Moscow Mule.” Students ate and schmoozed at tables decorated with checkered tablecloths, while others sat on picnic blankets on the lawn, or along Cleary Walk.
Per campus tradition, volunteers — including the Matador Men’s Basketball team — helped dish out food from the taco buffet, which was sponsored by Matador Eats. Associated Students set up tents to offer freebies, such as planners and T-shirts. Students could also visit other tents with information about The Soraya, CSUN’s Information Technology, and the Matador Patrol (‘Don’t Walk Alone’: Matador Patrol Helps Students Feel Safe). Check out some highlights of the event, in photos.
