Holiday shoppers at the Northridge Fashion Center soon will be able to buy California State University, Northridge merchandise. During the upcoming holiday season, a CSUN kiosk will offer mostly apparel, but also other items such as keychains, pens and notebooks, adorned with the CSUN brand.
This is the fourth year the Fashion Center leases the space to The University Corporation, which in partnership with CSUN’s Matador Bookstore will operate the kiosk.
“We’re reaching out to the community that doesn’t come to campus very often, particularly alumni,” said Michael Lennon, associate director of retail operations for the University Corporation.
For a few CSUN students, the kiosk will provide a chance to earn some extra money for the holidays.
“It’s staffed by our own employees, so it’s mostly CSUN students,” Lennon said. “It gives them an opportunity [for] a little more work.”
According to Lennon, the kiosk’s primary goal is to give the local community, whether alumni or not, to show off their CSUN pride.
“We don’t do it for the money,” he said. “We do it as a community feel-good effort. It’s good to get the CSUN name and brand out there and make ourselves available to people outside of campus.”
The kiosk will be open for business from Nov. 2 to Dec. 31. It will be located in the middle of the first floor of the Northridge Fashion Center, next to the “Photos with Santa” booth in the JCPenney Court.
