California State University, Northridge’s 17th Annual Student Research and Creative Works Symposium on Feb. 15 drew a crowd of students, faculty and staff interested in student oral and poster presentations. Undergraduate and graduate students presented their research on an array of topics ranging from the advantages of retrofitting water fountains on campus to an analysis of post-Station Fire debris flow in the San Gabriel Mountains to the regulatory focus on fast-food eating habits. Tawaun Lucas of the Department of Psychology took first place in the undergraduate poster category for his research on child behavior, titled “Chaos: The Abyss of Child Behavior.” There were a total of seven poster awards in the division of undergraduates, science and mathematics, social and behavioral sciences, and other colleges. There were 26 awards granted in the oral presentation session. Cash prizes were offered to each winner in varying amounts for first and second place. Photo by Lee Choo.
