CSUN Ranks as ‘Coolest’ CSU
California State University, Northridge is among the “coolest” universities in the United States and Canada, according to Sierra magazine’s 15th annual “Cool Schools” 2021 rankings. Coming in at No. 35, CSUN is the highest-ranked campus in the California State University system on the Sierra Club’s list of greenest colleges and universities.
This year, a record-breaking 328 colleges and universities in the U.S. and Canada participated in the “Cool Schools” survey. Schools were graded across 18 categories ranging from curriculum, research and campus engagement to buildings, air and climate, and water use.
“We are proud once again to be named the top-ranked CSU on the list,” said Austin Eriksson, director of energy and sustainability. “Sustainability is a priority at CSUN, from campus operations and infrastructure to outreach, education and research. This ranking underscores our deep commitment to shaping a more sustainable future as well as highlights all of the contributions our campus community has made toward these efforts.”
