With its dedication to academic excellence and supporting students from underrepresented groups, CSUN once again has been recognized as a top institution in the nation.

CSUN is one of the Top 20 public schools in the West and ranks No. 21 in social mobility for its students, according to U.S. News & World Report’s annual Best Colleges lists for 2021, released on Sept. 14.

This year, the publication ranked CSUN No. 18 among “Top Public Schools” in the West region, one of 12 CSUs in the Top 20. The rankings take into account graduation and retention rates, social mobility, graduation debt, and other factors.

CSUN ranked No. 21 among “Top Performers on Social Mobility” in the West region, which rates institutions based on success in enrolling and graduating Pell Grant-eligible students from low-income families.

U.S. News & World Report also singled out a number of academic programs at CSUN, ranking the university 10th in undergraduate computer engineering and 11th in undergraduate civil engineering (at institutions where doctorates are not offered), as well as 10th in undergraduate teaching programs in the West region.
