Art students and alumni of California State University, Northridge make valuable contributions in the business world.

At IntersectLA, a student-run creative services and strategy agency founded by professor Dave Moon, students work for clients on campus and for local businesses, providing branding, design and messaging services. They’ve created beautiful websites for a dessert store, promotional materials for the TedX at CSUN series of speaking events, and motion graphics for the Ritz Carlton.

Over the years, Ellen ’00 (Credential), M.A. ’08 (Special Education) and Dave Moon ’89 (Graphic Design) have invested in the students working at the intersection of art and business. Their most recent philanthropic gift supports two projects at CSUN that were both established by Dave Moon, a professor of Design Strategy For Effective Branding in CSUN’s Mike Curb College of Arts, Media, and Communication, including funds for operational support for IntersectLA.

They also supported the Creative ARTpreneur Prize, an annual award for a CSUN student in the Department of Art to start or develop an art-related business.

The impact of the Moon’s gift was amplified through the CSUN Foundation’s Matador Match Challenge for 2022, with more than half of their gift being eligible for a dollar-for-dollar match.

In 2022, Dave Moon was recognized with one of the California State University’s highest honors — the Wang Family Excellence Award.
